What is a Ladies' Barbershop Chorus?
We are a group of ladies who love to sing in four part harmony, without the accompaniment of musical instruments. The deepest voices sing Bass and support the tune. The Baritones (Bari's) sing a mixture of low and moderately high, but always provide the harmony notes. The Leads usually provide the melody and sing across moderately low to quite high!. The Tenors sing the very high notes at the top of the range. Singing together is what gives the barbershop arrangements their particular blend of sounds. The songs can be old favourites, or more modern show tunes. We meet on Tuesday nights in Ketley, and are always pleased to welcome new members, or someone who wants to just find out more about what we do.
We raise money for our chosen charity, which in 2025 is Severn Hospice.
We are currently around 20 in number, and are happy to perform in a variety of venues. We particularly enjoy sharing a concert with other choirs, or musical groups.
Our Musical Director is Monica Funnell, who is herself a gold medal winning performer.
